Hellboy: John T. Myers, Seven Virtues: Fortitude, Faith

Title: Fallen Angel
Author/Artist: Ariyana
Theme: Seven Virtues: Fortitude
Rating: [13+]
Word Count: 500
Disclaimer: The Hellboy characters are the property of Mike Mignola, Dark Horse comics, Revolution Studios and Columbia/Sony pictures. The Constantine characters are the property of Warner Brothers, DC/Vertigo comics and Village Roadshow Picture.
Author's Note: If all goes according to plan than all these virtue pieces will be backstory for a multi-chapter crossover I'm doing. Yeah I'm late on week two but I figure two stories different themes should make up for it. ^^;I really hate writing slumps.

It was mid-day when John Myers arrived in Los Angeles. After his talk with Angela, he had quickly set the wheels in motion to get the FBI and BPRD down to LA to clean up the Ravenscar incident. He knew she wouldn't be able to handle it on her own.

"We've taken over of the coroner's office. Several bodies were recovered from the site and we have managed to gather all the bodies that were directly involved with the case."

"How has the hospital clean up gone?" John asked, curiously.

"Well other then Detective Dodson and John Constantine, only one other person was witness. He was found in the hydrotherapy room and you're not going to believe this..."

"What?"

"The guy while he is human has a strange bone structure. There are two protruding bones on his back as if he had wings," the agent said excitedly. "And get this, we ran a check on his fingerprints and nothing came up. He has no last name, no social security number, and no dental records. We even ran his prints and picture through Interpol and got nothing. He literally doesn't exist."

"Where is he now?"

"He's in solitary confinement. He keeps going on about God and only wanting to do his will. He's a real religious fanatic."

"Take me to him." John ordered, trying to hide his discomfort. He was closer to the case than normally was allowed but he had pleaded with Manning to let him handle it. He just had a feeling that he should be the one to take care of things.

The androgynous young man known as Gabriel sat in the corner with a faraway look in his eyes. The bones that had been protruding from his back were bandaged and he now wore clean hospital pajamas. The man rocked back and forth cradling his knees while speaking rambling to himself. He spared no one a glance until one John T. Myers entered the padded cell.

"John Thadeus Myers...you're quite a ways from home aren't you?" Gabriel asked, turning his piercing gaze onto the startled agent.

"How do you know my name?"

"He may have turned his back on me but I still have knowledge of his favorites. Good natured, helpful, unable to stay angry, devoted, dutiful...noble. You have potential to be a strong warrior for God," Gabriel answered. Even as a human he could still see the soft golden glow that shone from the young agent.

"So you believe you're an Angel?" Myers asked, simply.

"You know I was an Angel. Just like I know you aid one of Lucifer's precious spawn. Don't worry God knows you wouldn't help the devil spawn if he were truly evil like his father and brother."

Gabriel smiled upon noticing the frown on Myers' face. 'This one is strong but he knows not the potential that lies within.' Gabriel thought. "You're strength will be put to the test but I wonder will you fall or will you rise above it."

Gabriel's vague words of warning left an uneasy feeling in the pit of John's stomach. Also the idea of being one of God's favorites was a rather daunting idea in itself. He just did what he felt was right. He never tried to be more than who he was. That was not his way. He didn't have any special gifts or powers like Liz, Abe and Hellboy. He was just there to be apart of the team. He just wanted to help in any way possible...did that really make him special? John didn't think so. He was just an ordinary guy, living under extraordinary conditions.

Professor Broom had once called him pure of heart and left to him the task of helping Hellboy become a man. He had felt the weight of that request and had been overwhelmed in the faith that Professor Broom had shown him. He had no idea how contagious faith could be until the day he was convinced that Hellboy would not open the gates of hell. Hellboy had proven that his faith had not been misplaced and by the same token Professor Broom's faith in him had not been misplaced either.

Now with Gabriel telling him that his strength would be tested he wondered what it all meant. He could still hear the fallen Angel's last words to him as he exited the cell. "Mark my words, John T. Myers. You will die young but the reward of basking in His love will be worth it."

Though the predictions of deaths and further greatness scared him, John Myers had faith in himself and in his friends. Whatever the future would bring he would be there to face it head on.
