Angel was sitting on the sofa in their apartment when Spike finally returned. He had no idea how to handle the situation but he wanted to clear it right now. If Spike was seeing someone else Angel wanted to know it and end whatever they had between them right there and then. He didn't want to be something Spike played on the side while having fun elsewhere as well. They had talked about their relationship being exclusive and right now Angel felt himself betrayed.
As soon as Spike stepped into the apartment he knew something was wrong. He could see Angel sitting in the living room on the sofa but the older vampire wasn't making any attempt at coming to him. Usually Angel always met him right at the door and kissed his non existent breath away. Now he was just sitting there with a blank face. Fear entered Spike's mind. Had something happened? Had someone gotten hurt or worse? Slowly he walked to sit beside Angel on the sofa.
"Something wrong, pet?"
"Don’t call me that."
Spike frowned. What was this? He had been calling Angel all kind of names for some time now and he had never protested any of them.
"Angel talk to me? Has something happened? Did someone get hurt?"
"It is quite possible someone will get hurt soon. Or more precisely someone is hurting already."
Angel's words weren't making any sense. Spike had no idea what was going on. Who was going to hurt and who was already hurting?
"Angel, I have no idea what you are talking about." Spike was feeling a bit frustrated. "Care to explain?"
"I'm talking about you going out behind my back and cheating on me!"
All Spike could do was to stare at Angel with his mouth hanging open. Now he definitely had no idea what Angel was talking about. Cheating? He had been doing nothing like that.
"Angel? What are you saying? Cheating? I swear you are the only one for me."
"Please don"t lie to me.” Angel buried his face into his hands. "I know what I saw. I don't need any other proof."
"Could you tell me what you saw since I don't have the faintest idea what you are talking about." Spike was feeling desperate. This couldn't be happening! "Please, Angel. Don't do this."
Spike knelt on the floor and placed his hands on Angel's knees. He really didn't like where this conversation was going towards to. Something had obviously happened that had made Angel think Spike was cheating on him but how could he make it better when he didn't know what it was. Unfortunately as soon as placed his hands on Angel's legs the older vampire surged up from the sofa.
"Don’t touch me! I don't know where your hands have been!"
Without any further words Angel ran out of the room and slammed the door to the bedroom closed behind him. Spike was left kneeling on the floor in the living room.
